Common questions
Q01Is Nodus free?
Yes. Free for Windows, no watermark, no time limits, no account needed to record and export.
Q02Does background recording slow my game down?
Nodus records with your GPU's video encoder, so it costs a few frames at most. It only writes a file when you press the hotkey and discards the rest of the buffer.
Q03How far back can I clip?
Up to 2 minutes. The hotkey saves the last 30 seconds, 1 minute, or 2 minutes, and anything older is discarded.
Q04What quality does it record at?
Up to 1080p, 25 Mbps, 60 fps, with per-game profiles so each title keeps its own settings.
Q05Do I need to know node editors?
No. Vertical reframing comes as a ready-made template: drop a clip in and export. Open the node canvas only when you want to change the layout.
Q06Where do my clips live?
On your PC. Nothing is uploaded unless you share a clip, and you share them one at a time.
Q07Is macOS or Linux coming?
Nodus Studio is Windows-only today. Other platforms are not on the roadmap yet.
